Local elders attended weekly Friday workshop for three months in creating various types of kites from gaoriyeon (stingray kite), to miniature butterfly kites, using carbon paper, collage, markers, and spray paint. Most of the students were women elders and they expressed not having built their own kites due to gender norms for kite-making and flying in their generation.
